Meet Our Chefs

Chef Garry Chef Gary:
Gary Hurtubise hails from Rhode Island where he worked on food trucks (well before they became as popular as they are now) and learned customer service skills and how to make people happy through food. Gary went back to school at age 35, worked at various restaurants and landed at Spectrum Generations in 2005. “I knew I had I found a place to call home about a month into working at the Muskie Center when I realized how much need there was for nutritious meals and how much we were doing to fulfill that need for the community. I love working with food and people and for me that’s a win-win situation.” Cohen on the Meadows Catering highlights his background and passion for food and community in creating a unique dynamic that aims at taking care of the needs and wants of all customers.
Chef Jürgen Jürgen Wurth
Jürgen Wurth moved to the United Sates from Germany when he was seven years old and grew up in Virginia. He is an experienced chef who got his culinary arts degree in Germany but returned to the U.S. to continue his career. For the past thirty years he has done it all, from managing and owning his own restaurant to working in fine dining establishments, pubs, institutional kitchens, and working as the chef for nine Aramark locations in Alaska. Jürgen moved to Maine to raise his kids and has a deep appreciation for the Maine winters. He joined Spectrum Generations in 2019 as the Cohen Community Center’s Kitchen Manager/Catering Chef and brings with him a wealth of knowledge in kitchen management, the food industry, and a knack for understanding the nutritional needs of the Maine community and how to deliver excellence.

-John McLaughlin  President  Rotary Club of Augusta

Cohen on the Meadows was the location for my Bridal Shower.  It was held in the middle of May so we were able to take full advantage of the beautiful spring views.  The location of Cohen on the Meadows as super easy for all attendees to get to - being only a few miles off of I95 made travel easy for family and friends coming from the north and south.  The event space was absolutely beautiful.  The tables and chairs provided made the event more comfortable rather then your typical folding chairs used for large events. The room provided the perfect canvas to add additional decorations, but not feel the need to go overboard.  The large picture window overlooking the field made for a beautiful back drop to the event.  I could not have been happier with how beautiful my shower turned out.

I want to give major kudos to Stephen for being an absolutely amazing person to work with. He truly is great at managing and planning events and also really attentive to guests the day of. I can't compliment Stephen enough on how wonderful of a job he does.
